Nestled in a beautiful valley along Dutch Henry Creek, Shimmerback Ranch is a working farm, retreat center, and queer land community. We're proponents of plant medicine and are known to throw an occasional dance party in the woods. Shimmerback Ranch is clothing optional/body positive, which means you can be naked if you want.
Where magic is real
Shimmerback Ranch is rooted in a deep history of land stewardship, community creation and queer spirituality, particularly in the tradition of the Radical Faeries. This history infuses the land with magic that can be seen and felt in unique features such as our swinging footbridge, stone barn, star gazing bed, and artistic altars tucked into unexpected corners. There's magic co-created by the people who are drawn here. And of course magic is blowing on the wind, flowing through the water, and rustling in the cathedral canopy of our enchanted forest.
Natural abundance
Shimmerback Ranch is located on 150 acres of pristine Mendocino County wilderness, a quintessentially Northern California landscape of diverse forests and rolling meadows. We are blessed with an abundance of water, including year-round Dutch Henry Creek, perfect for swimming and cooling off in summer. Trees include a wide variety of oak, fir, madrone, manzanita and California bay. Wildlife includes many types of birds and amphibians, deer, hare, boar, foxes and even a resident bear! Wildflowers are prolific throughout the year, and there are numerous species of mushrooms, ferns, mosses, lichens and other flora.
